PETER SHEAR (b.1980, Beverly Farms, MA) lives in Bloomington, Indiana. A self-taught painter and sometimes organizer of paintings, Shear has exhibited across the United States and Europe, most recently in his solo exhibition Editions of You at Devening Projects, Chicago (2017). In 2016 Shear exhibited alongside Ellen Siebers in Basic Instinct at FJORD, Philadelphia; Matthew Wong in Good Bad Brush at The Occasional Gallery, Burlington, Washington; and Katelyn Eichwald at Alter Space, San Francisco; 2016 group exhibitions include Dek Hed, curated by Ross Simonini at The Thing Quarterly, San Francisco; Bring Something Pink, curated by Yifat Gat at Espace Despalles, Paris; and The Black & White Project at Transmitter, Brooklyn. Other past exhibitions include the solo shows Family Resemblance at ATM, Austin (2016), and Dragon Express at Welcome Screen, London (2013), and the group exhibitions Peer Review at the Imperial College of London (2015); Drops of Jupiter at Bannerette, Brooklyn (2015); The Double Down, curated by Trudy Benson and Jason Stopa at Trestle Gallery, Brooklyn (2013); Reason and Romance curated by Alain Biltereyst at 6b Gallery, Elingen, Belgium; and Transposed Planes at LVL3, Chicago (2013). In February, 2017, his work will be included in the exhibition ONLY Small Paintings at Fortnight Institute, New York City.
